And A Year Later!

I just decided to take a look see at this here blog that I created a long time ago. And as coincidence would have it, it was exactly 1 year ago today that I posted something. Talk about consistency.

Well I recently, have become interested in a few things that I thought will fun to try to keep track of in some form. What better way than to put them here.

In the last year I have developed some new interests. These new interests include my Nephew Finley, decorating my not so new apartment, The Tracy Anderson Method 90 Day Metamorphosis, & Vegetarian diets/weight loss.

In my post exactly one year ago, I mentioned that I was going to be an Aunt soon. Well Finley arrived on September 1st, 2010 (or in America it was actually August 31st). He is now almost a year old. I can hardly believe that he is real! If it weren't for pictures and Skype, I would believe he is real. I got to meet Finley last December when my sister Alison and bro in law Scott came home for a month for Christmas. What a great Christmas it was. Alison has done a great job keeping up to date with pictures of Fin on her blog. I have hi-jacked as many photos as I could from her and will post some of my favorite pictures of Finley soon. (Hopefully).

At the same time last year that Finley was born, I moved into my own apartment. I think I have finally sorted through all of the hand me downs and gotten rid of the items I do not want or need. But my apartment still needs a lot of work. I have everything I could possibly need, but the aesthetics really need some help! I have got the function part covered! But, I really want to focus on the form part now! I hope to be able to replace a lot of the furniture I currently have with quality pieces of furniture that will reflect my design aesthetic. For me this will be a never ending process, but hopefully a fun one!

Also about a year ago I decided to try to devote myself to a vegetarian lifestyle. This was not a hard thing for me to do, because I was pretty close to it to begin with. I did not have any trouble giving up my chicken and turkey. I don't miss it at all! I still have cravings for fish, so I have allowed myself fish on occasion in the past year. The hardest part for me has been making sure I eat enough protein and not too much carbs and fats. I want to really focus on finding healthy vegetarian meals and snacks that will give me the protein I need for energy and to help me lose weight. It is really easy to order a cheese pizza. Its vegetarian. And is really easy and convenient, but it sure doesn't help me lose weight. And I don't want to have to eat salad for the rest of my life, even though I love a good salad.

Lastly, is my recommitment to losing weight. About 3-1/2 years ago, I joined Gold's Gym and got a personal trainer. She had me on a fairly strict diet of 5 - 6 small meals a day and 45 mins of cardio about 4 days a week and 1 - 2 sessions of training with her a week. I was looking really good, too. She changed careers, and I lost my motivation. And now I am worse than I was when I first started working out with her. So I discovered Tracy Anderson. She is my new pseudo-personal trainer. I have just started her Metamorohosis program. the program has 9 10 day phases that consist of 30 minutes of Muscular Structure and 30 mins of Dance cardio. I hope to track my progress here so that I can see where I started and where I want to
go. Wish me luck, because I hate to work out.

So, I am going to try to post some photos and ideas on here to keep me motivated and inspired.

So it has been over a year since I posted anything. Things are pretty much the same here. I have had a very busy year with work and have now trained to work with 5 home builders. I started with Gehan Homes, and then learned the system for Perry Homes and Castle Rock Homes. Just this last April I started training at Scott Felder Homes and Ryland Homes. I am now able to float between these builders and help out when things get busy and fill in when the design consultants go on vacation. Next week I will be learning one more. Highland Homes. I hope my brain can handle it. I have caught on pretty quickly, but actually doing the appointments has been a little scary. You always get asked some very specific question that if I had been consistently working for the one home builder for several months I might know. But jumping in there, I am sure to make a mistake or not have an answer. The best policy is to never BS your way through it. You will get caught with your foot in your mouth at some point. I try to be honest with the home buyers and let them know I am helping out and do not know. All in all I am very happy to be learning so much. I think it will make me very valuable to the company. Currently things are very slow for me so I am a little worried. I like to stay busy enough that the time during the day goes by quickly. That is not happening this week.

As far as the rest of my life is going, not much has changed. I am going to be an Aunt at the end of August. I couldn't be more excited. It is just a little bittersweet though, because I will not get to meet my niece or nephew until Christmas time when Alison and Scott are coming home for a visit. Thank goodness for Skype.

I hope to blog again soon. I would like to try to make it a little bit more of a regular habit.

The Design Center

I just took some pics of the Design Center where I work. Some of the pictures are a little blurry!

My Desk!

The Design Center Kitchen

The Design Center Kitchen (pic 2)

Vignette # 1

This Kitchen has Raised Panel Birch Cabinets in Saddle Stain. The Granite is called Blanco Delicatus. The Backsplash is Plateau Malham 13x13 on a diagonal with an accent of slate.

Vignette #1 (close up)

Vignette #2

The cabinets here are a Flat-panel Birch with Autumn Stain. The Granite is called Tahoe and the backsplash is a rhomboid (little diamonds) Travertine Tumbled in Ancient Beige. This is not my favorite look overall.

Vignette #3

This vignette has Flat panel Cherry Cabinets in Cognac Stain. The granite is Ubatuba and the backsplash is 1x1 Iron Slate Multi-color.

Vignette #3 (close up)

I like the backsplash.

Vignette #4

This is my FAVORITE! (everyone else's too!)

This vignette has Raised panel Maple Cabinets with Java Glaze. (So pretty!) The Granite is called Star Beach. The backsplash is 6x6 Casali Casina laid on diagonal pattern with Metal Tuscany Deco Accent.

Vignette #4 (close up)

This piture doesn't do it justice. It is really much prettier!

This cabinet holds the Cabinet and Granite Samples.

HANKercheif

Hey Everyone! I know it has been a while. I wanted to share this adorable photo of Hank. My parents and I are taking care of him for 5 months for Ali and Scott because he has to be quarantined before he can move to Australia. Honestly, I am love taking care of him. He is a sweetie pie. I will really miss him when we send him off. This is a cute picture i took of him last week. Bella and Gatsby have a mobile groomer that comes about every 6 weeks. Her name is Dolly and she does a great job. In fact I mentioned her in my previous post about Gatsby's fur turning green. Well last week she came and groomed Bella, Gatsby, and Hank. Well she just trimmed his nails. But he got this spiffy HANKerchief. He is so cute.

The Green Gatsby

Gatsby has turned green for St. Patrick's Day. His white fur dyed green on accident. He gets groomed every 6 weeks and Dolly (the sweet lady who grooms him) put a green bandana on him so he wouldn't get pinched. So I was going to leave it on him till after tomorrow. Well I just noticed that the bandana had gotten wet (I guess it is from when he drinks water) and the color bled on to him. So now he doesn't have to wear green at all. He is green.
